I’m broke. Chances are you’re broke too. Like many Americans, I spent a lot of time eating in fast food and chain restaurants growing up. But, all of that changed when I moved to Brooklyn, NY and became something of a foodie. After you’ve eaten in New York City, you can’t really go back to The Olive Garden with the same taste buds. Don’t get me wrong, there will always be a special place in my heart for unlimited salad and bread sticks, but it just doesn’t taste the same.
So how do you eat fresh and well when you’re broke? You must learn to cook. I’ve come very far in a short amount of time. After New York and then with my move to Santa Monica, CA just a year ago, I now enjoy fresh produce, farmer’s markets, seasonings and adding on to my cookbook. I also like to buy things that I can get more than one meal out of, and incorporate old southern family recipes when I’m feeling a little homesick.
So follow along on my journey as I try to save a little money, try new recipes and eat healthy.
